Ginko tree

Hi. My Ginko tree has some dead branches and is not growing well. I have cut off the dead bits. I found a large red ants nest at the base which I have destroyed. The trunk at the base appears damaged. I have replaced the ants nest with fresh compost. Is there anything I can do to help save the Ginko? Thanks Niki

Ants nest in dry soil so water, water, water.   Apart from anything else, the ants' nest tunnels will leave the Gingko roots hanging in air and unable to take up nutrients or water.

15 to 20 litres poured slowly so it soaks in rather than running off and, if you can, use a hosepipe and then leave the hose end on a steady trickle for an hour a day till the soil and roots are thoroughly moistened again.
