Cauliflower in a North facing garden?

ManderMander Posts: 349
I have several cauliflower seedlings that need a home, but I really only have the option of containers or putting them in the north facing garden. They would get a little bit of morning sun and afternoon sun, but they would be mostly shaded by the house. Will they grow in the shade?

Alternatively I have some kale and chard seedlings that could go there. Or I could try to start some lettuce. Right now that bit of the garden is just bare soil and it would be nice to use it for something.

Cauliflowers are quite demanding to grow and need full sun to produce a good head.  If they fail to do that, the leaves aren't particularly nice to eat.  I would try the leafy veg in the area shaded by your house.
