    @Dovefromabove resurrecting an old post but I've only just got around to digging this hole! Just wanted to check in on the right track! It needs a little more out of the bottom and a little widening. Once done I'll fill the bottom with gravel. Correct?

    Looks good to me … a ‘box’ of slabs and a stoney bottom. I’d use loam with some grit to fill it in with. Mind your back. 😊

    Unfortunately I'm fasting for Ramadan at the moment @Dovefromabove,  so that (non alcoholic) drink will have to wait until after sunset!! Not long now!

    Ooh that’s tough when you’re doing strenuous work like digging a hole in that soil !!!  …  enjoy raising a glass this evening to drink to the good health of your fig tree 😃

    I definitely ran out of energy at the end! But I'm so used to the fasting now it's not a problem. I wouldn't do that sort of thing every day though!
