What's going on with my buddleja?

Wondering if anyone can help me figure out what's going on with my Buddleja Sugar Plum. It's a new, young plant that I bought and planted about two months ago. It's been doing well and has been growing quickly since temparatures have warmed up, but suddenly the leaves are turning black and something is clearly wrong. I've searched online but can't find any issues that match these symptoms. Any ideas?

Thank you!

Not sure but I would suggest that for such a young plant, you clear the ground around it of the encroaching grass/weeds to give it a fair chance to establish.

Those puckered leaves look like aphid damage to me. I'd be inclined to see if you can carefully wipe each leaf and then just wait to see if it recovers. Try not to spray though.

Those leaves don’t look like Buddlia leaves,  Buddlia are soft green almost grey, and soft looking.  Are you sure that’s the plant or has it died and a weed come up in the same place ?
Unless of course it’s a different type to mine.
