Gardening Beginner
Ok so I am a complete beginner when it comes to gardening. Haven't looked after my garden as well as I should car and it about time I started. Right now it is full of weeds. I want to get to a stage where the garden has nice grass and family can relax in it. So need to get rid of the weeds, level the surface and put new turf down.
Can anybody recommend a good natural weedkiller, tools needed and the process? Also if I was to hire a gardener to do this, how much will this cost me.

As regards natural weedkillers, l read this article the other day which may help.

For a decent lawn, preparation is the key thing.
Once you've cleared the weeds you need to make sure the site is level, otherwise when you come to mow it, it will look uneven where places are missed or scalped.
As to costs, how big is the site ?
About the only one that does kill roots is glyphosate, but the use of that is controversial. But if you want to kill what I can see growing in your garden it is really the only efficient weedkiller. You would need a sprayer and a bottle of glyphosate weedkiller.
The other method is to dig everything up by hand.
I don't know what gardeners charge in your area, they vary. In Norfolk it's around £20 an hour for mowing, weeding and pruning.
