Black current bush issues

Can anyone advise on what might be going on with my black current bush? There do seem to be quite a few black aphids and aphid casts on it.

The red current bush next to it is a picture of health by comparison

I have the same issue on one of mine too.  Definitely aphid damage and the lack of rain doesn't help.

Our aphids definitely have a preference for black currents. There seemed to be loads more ladybirds around than usual a few weeks ago - was hoping that would keep the aphids a bit more under control this year...but alas it seems not.

Is there anything that can / should be done in terms or just let it be this year and try to squish them earlier next year?

Check if they are being farmed by ants - if so, watering the area with ant nematodes may make those decide to move on.  Apart from an occasional spraying with the jet from a hose, I've just left mine to fend for itself - it looks like the crop will still be reasonable and I have others.  Too much else to be getting on with tbh! :D
