Unripe plums disappeared

Hi Everyone, I have just found this site and read a lot of items, however not my particular issue.
I have a 3 year old Victoria Plum tree and got 6 fruits last year (it didn't blossom much, so understandable) this year we had lots of blossom and lots of fruit starting, however it's all gone now and no sign of it on the ground.
What eats unripe fruit from the trees? this has never happened with any of my other fruit trees including a previous Victoria Plum Tree.
Thanks
Les

The fact that fruit started to form doesn't mean it will grow to maturity.  Weather conditions may come into it.

Wood pigeons nick a lot of mine.

The June Drop provides food for small mammals and ground feeding birds like pigeons. 😊

I also would suspect woodpigeons, they have always gone after mine and are currently stripping all the wild cherries after they gave the blossom a good going over. They certainly don't wait for the June drop.

Squirrels will take anything ripe or unripe.

Thanks for your replies folks, as it is not large at the moment I think netting will be in order next year.
I was really looking forward to the plums this year :-(

We had a very dry March and April ... drought will cause fruit trees to shed fruit so next year a few buckets of water at the roots in Spring may help things.
