Weed or not

This plant appeared last year in my trough with other plants. Looks very healthy but I'm concerned it's going to spread all over.

    I think that's Amsinckia calycina:
Are you in Australia by any chance?

Looks like a weed to me !  I don’t like it and it would last another 5 secs in my garden before I rip it out. Sorry 😂

No, Bob,  I'm in SW Scotland .

Hello Eric's mum. Got to say I  couldn't leave it any longer. It seemed to grow quicker than my Russian Vine. Anyway its off to be recycled. Thanks for your comments but I would still like to know it's name of anyone else recognises it

Hello Bob, well I might not be in Australia but looking up Amsinckia glaucoma I'm amazed to find that's my plant!
What on earth is it doing happily growing to a good metre high with about the same spread in amongst my ruby crocus, miniature dafs an and Siberia ?🤗🤗🤔🤔

If you're in East Anglia, this might explain it  :)

Coast of South West Scotland. Appeared last year, removed, reappeared this year. Will it keep appearing or do I have to start again with my trough?

I'm guessing that as long as it doesn't go to seed, you should be okay.

According to the links, seeds are indeed the main issue and those already in the soil (and which may well have come in with any compost/sand you may have bought 2-3 years ago) may keep coming up for a few more years and will need pulling-up as soon as you recognize one.  The old gardener's rule of thumb concerning weed seeds applies here: "1 year's seeds, 7 years' weeds" which is why the advice is always to not let weeds set seed. :)
