Horrible smelling plant!

Hi lovely people!

I have this weed that I dig up a couple of times a year.  This year I've had 9 in my very small front garden.  They grow fast and tall, the roots are very stubborn and this plant absolutely stinks!!  Does anyone know what it is?  ITS DRIVING ME MAD!  :D It only grows out the front,  I've never seen it in the back garden. (I have seen it in hedges around the county though) I live in Cornwall.
Oh it also has blackish seeds/Berry type things on the top.
Finally,  gardening is very new to me (as you probably can tell)   :p  .....so any help will be amazing.  :*

Cheers,

    It may be pokeweed.

If it is pokeweed does it have pink flowers before they are pollinated?
The berries are loved by birds.
They can be controlled by keeping on the alert and pulling up new growths where you don't want them.
  • Hey,
The pokeweed pictures on Google have similar leaves but the seeds look much different.  They aren't clumped together like that.  More a few on the very top of each stem.  I haven't noticed any flowers on it, which is strange.
I have one remaining plant which I was too tired to dig up so I will take more photos tomorrow and show you  :)
    Thanks for the reply.
