This is just to say I still have not got a gardener. A distant cousin who is a policeman said that the reason I was having difficulty contacting a college was because they have to be so careful who they might send their students to so they dont. So I fear being scammed and I hate to think what they fear. Evenso cant criticize the colleges for protecting their students.

My little garden is environmentally friendly if nothing else!!! The jasmine is so overgrown I think it could hide a fox...or 2.

Apologies, I didn't see that @Fire had tagged me until just now. I'm in SE, not SW, London so not that close to you in order to be able to recommend people (ditto for @B3). But when I was studying at Capel Manor in Regent's Park, the other students came from all over London and the South East, and there was a jobs noticeboard in the kitchen. I don't know how it was arranged, but you could phone and ask if it's possible to place an ad on the noticeboard?

Have you asked neighbours if they could recommend someone?  Maybe if you can't find a gardener would you consider having raised beds\slabs laid to make it easier for you to manage.

This saddens me greatly. What a horrible society we live in with scammers, fear, legislation/red tape and a complete lack of support/help for those that have paid their dues and should be entitled to expect a little bit back (especially when they're willing to pay a fair price for it) :(
