Plant (or weed?) ID please

msqingxiaomsqingxiao Posts: 482
I discovered this thing growing out of a waterlogged planter left by the previous houseowner when we moved in last winter, so I transplanted it to the border. Now it has grown a lot but also looks like a weed... Wondering if anyone knows what it is please? Thanks!

Yes - Buddleia. Might just be the common species though. It'll grow anywhere.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Thanks both! Looks like it'll flower at some point? Worth keeping then  :)

Purple flowers, yes. It might end up too big for the space, but keep it if you like it.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

If you don't want a large spreading tree in that border, I'd be tempted to remove it now whilst you can do so easily.

Thanks for the advice! Will definitely think about moving it to another location then
