Pear rust and snails

Hi beautiful green fingered people,
I have what I believe is pear rust on my pear tree. Can I treat with apple Cider vinegar? I also have a vast number of snails (gardens really damp) will the vinegar get rid of them too? They eat all my strawberries and like "sitting" on my grape vine leafs.

A rule I live by is to ignore any internet advice advocated with the word ‘hack’. I have no proof but my immediate response would be no and no.

Spraying the snails with cider vinegar is supposed to dissolve their shells so, instead, why not just tread on them? Or, if you have more respect for life, collect them in a bucket and tip them out in a hedgerow some distance away.

Pear rust is best dealt with by picking off infected leaves and burning them, or bagging and disposing of them. To break the cycle you need to destroy the juniper tree which acts as the host, a difficult challenge if it’s not in your garden!

That's what I do each year ... it's fine and we get lovely crops of pears.
