Climbing wires for a rambling rose - advice please

  • Any tips please on what screws to use for a chalk cob wall?
We have an ancient climbing rose that is very well attached by previous owners.
  • I should have said not very well attached!  And rotated the picture somehow.
  • Hopefully someone will be able to come give you advice as I'm afraid I have no idea, but that's such a beautiful rose you have!

Here you go. There's a real problem with loading photos, but if you make them small enough it seems to be fine.  :)

I think you might have to put a couple of posts in - one each side, and then attach wires to those. There are various methods and types depending on the size/weight of the plant. You wouldn't be able to attach anything sturdy enough for a heavy climbing plant,  to that surface and whatever it's covering.
Or, do the posts, then attach trellis or battens to them. You might have to prune back depending on the space you have etc.  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
