Ailing apricot tree

Hi, I planted an apricot in mid-March, covered it against frost for a few weeks, then left the cover off. It is in a fairly protected area on three-sides, good soil, watered, but did get frosted during April. It has not leafed or budded and looks poorly. I am new to UK gardening and went by 'the books'. How can I save it?

All you can do now is wait.  To check it is still alive but dormant, carefully scrape back a small amount of bark on a branch using your thumbnail.  If it is green underneath, then it is still alive.  If brown, that branch is dead, so try further down the tree.  If the tissue is not green underneath the bark, that part is dead.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
