Lettuce to cover or not to cover

My lettuce is doing well under a large fine net weave structure. But it's big and id like to uncover the rest of the raised bed. Am I likely to risk a the birds having a feast if I uncover the lettuce?
Thank you

I've not found problems with birds, sparrow's take little nibbles from the chard, but the plants are big and they only take a tiny but. We have pigeons (in fact they have nested in a rambling rose on an arch,.

I've never found that birds really go for lettuce,
Some growers have a problem with Pigeons ( hence the netting ) but I suppose you will be aware of which birds visit your garden.
Trial and error springs to mind ?  Or if possible, uncover half and see what happens ?

Last year I had grown Salad Bowl lettuce in a spare 'hanging basket' - uncovered at first but hastily meshed-over with a wire frame when I noticed that the resident sparrow flock (20+) browsed on the leaves as a starter before moving onto the peanut feeder!! BEWARE sparrows, yet alone feral pigeons, collared doves & jackdaws!!
