I have found I can spend quite a lot of money on netting, so I found on amazon a mosquito net for a double bed and have made a frame with bamboo. Its strong, lets the rain in, its 6ft tall so I dont need to crawl into it, and keeps everything out. £12.99 and will last several years I believe.
I put forward my entry for prettiest netting. this is soft butterfly net with a variety of metal fence posts and old bamboo poles all tastefully topped by old plastic bottles, the tire on the silage plastic is a nice addition I think.
The front edge was pulled out and held down with some rocks, I had just planted stuff in there in this photo. It did work for small and large whites, it did nothing for diamond back moths however as they are way to small to be stopped by such netting.

Cdennis, can we have a picture? Hubby made one,the blighters will get through the tiniest gap. Watching Beechgrove on Sunday lady had a similar one to ours but on a frame and hinged, which would make it easier to get in. That's what he did for our fruit cage.
Butterfly netting is the thing but on a 6x4 bed couldn't you just check the plants every day and deal with the eggs/caterpillars as you find them it would only take 10 minutes a day.
