Promoting upright growth!

Hello,

This is a robinia frisia that I planted winter 19/20. I’m trying to promote vigorous upwards growth so when it reaches fence height we may encourage a natural screen from overlooking houses. At present all vigorous growth seems to be low down… any advise?

many thanks
GF

I think what you need is patience - it will happen in time.

The sambucus you have (very close) to it will outgrow the robinia in no time and form a big shrub up to about 2.5-3m high if you don't prune it
