Camellia japonica not flowering

So after 4 years of tlc, west facing, no morning sun, dapled shade, ericaceous feeds in spring, plenty of water etc etc I have read that camellia japonica (mine is lady Campbell) just won't flower in Scotland and that I need to go for a camellia x Williamsii variety?
Such a shame as it is very healthy and about 3 foot tall . It only flowered when I bought it. Does anyone have success with Camellia japonicas in the northern parts of the country or should I just replace with a more tolerant Williamsii next spring?
I'd like a similar red flowering one - any recommendations? Current one has never had buds but neighbours have huge pink camellias. Lots of ericaceous plants do well here just not this one it seems.
Thanks
