Canna lily help...

Sorry I'll try again 🤦‍♀️ it helps if you put the right name of the plant in your post 🙈

So I have these two pots of canna lilies which are very sentimental to me. Can anyone advise do I need to split them and repot them or just leave them be? Just seems a bit crowded in there to me 😕

Thanks in advance

I would give the pot a good soak and then turf the contents carefully out into a wheelbarrow or a trug of some sort and see how easy it would be to split.   I recently bought a very congested pot of canna tropicana Downunder Dream and split it into 8 plants.   6 are now potted up in a large container and 2 smaller ones are in individual pots to grow on.

I used a loamy compost mixed with about 20%MPC and they are no sat on a front step in full sun and doing well.  They need a lot of water to do well so don't let them get thirsty.

IMO it is a bit late to be dividing Cannas, I do it before they have leaves, but when you can see the new buds.
l would leave it till next year.

I think I would try now, they don’t seem to be doing too well as they are and by the end of the season could be even worse.  It’s very congested in those pots.
    I think it’s worth a try.

Me too, wouldn’t bother watering till divided, it’ll be more messy. Tough plants, tip out and use a saw or knife to cut each in two. Free plants 🙂
