    You hear them first. Very distinctive, very low buzz like the difference between a 'normal' helicopter and a chinook going over the house  B)

    I remember camping out at a friend’s place in a meadow with old oak trees in it. There were large garden flares lit showing the path to where a band was playing in the garden ... as we watched hornets from a nest in a hollow oak landed on the flares and walked up the wax into the fire ... they couldn’t help being drawn to the bright flames even tho they were going to their deaths. Remarkable. 
    Of course we extinguished the flares as soon as we realised what was happening. 

    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
