Is this kind of ground cover a good idea?

I haven’t had much luck with ground cover to keep weeds down and yet to be able to pull up easily to allow planting. Hardy geranium didn’t work when I stuck the weedy ones in as they are quite hard to dig out - also called Big root cranesbill.

So I’ve put down a type of sedum to cover. Will this be better for flower beds and borders?

I don’t know,  I’ve got it around, it just get long grass growing up and the eternal (infernal) ground elder, but personally when I find I can’t cope with all the beds we are grassing them over, it’s easier to cut the grass than weed the beds.

Some grass still get in there but not as much and it keeps the soil moist enough under there I guess otherwise it dries out quickly. I haven’t tried digging it out yet and dog violets still finds it’s way in.

Same here, I’ve spend many days digging out weeds, mainly ground elder about to flowers just to find spaces to put the plants in.
Someone please remind me not to buy any seeds next year.😀
