What is this? Grass?

I thought it was a day lily id been nurturing. First time it’s flowered so to speak, what is it and do I get rid of it?

    It's  Carex Pendula.
    I have green thumbs and no aphids on my roses.

    Yes, get rid, it self seeds everywhere.

    .... and is a right PITA to dig out once it gets established 😖 

    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

    Oh no. Another job on the list. It’s in a pot with my rose so it’s going to have to be dealt with today.
