@Songbird-1 I'll definitely know to pay more attention in future! My raised beds are covered with a good layer of bark chippings to retain moisture although I'll be removing the current chippings at the same I'll be planting the new honeysuckle. I'll be giving the beds a thorough soaking before putting the new layer on top.
I did consider potting the honeysuckle up to fully recover but there's not going to be anywhere to put it afterwards. Technically there's space in the back bed but I dug all the plants that were there and potted them and planted a hawthorn tree. I didn't want the newly planted tree to have to compete for resources so the back bed is a bust. If the hawthorn were more established than it is, I wouldn't hesitate but it's still quite young and currently growing well. I don't want to jeopardise that.
