Tree disease

I think this is a bay laurel tree. Quite mature... about 15ft tall. Leaves are rapidly browning and falling off. Is it disease or insect infestation

I suspect it's the result of several dry summers followed by an incredibly dry April ... even the rain we had in May will hardly have penetrated the canopy of all that greenery, let alone soaked down into the root area in the soil below it.

  • Thanks for that dovefromabove... is there a course of action I can take? Heavy watering?

Heavy heavy watering ... at least three buckets full every other day, poured slowly over the root area so that it soaks in and doesn't run off the surface ... from now until the end of September, and then starting again in March ... whether it rains or not.
    Fingers crossed.   :)

I think ours died from over enthusiastic pruning by OH. Good luck with yours.
  • Thanks again. It'll be worth the effort. Its one of twins which are the centrepiece of that part of our garden. 😊

I'd water its twin in the same fashion, to be on the safe side.  They may need more than three buckets if we get a very warm spell.
