Bindweed & Horsetails

We’ve noticed these growing under our fence from the land behind. A neighbour has identified them as Bindweed & Horsetails.

The land behind belongs to the property developer (This is a new build estate). Are they under obligation to treat this? If not, what can we do?

Hello and welcome to the forum :)

No, as far as I understand it there's no legislation regarding either of those two.  Hedge bindweed is relatively simple to control using carefully targeted applications of glyphosate, but  Horsetail is another kettle of fish and I would use a barrier to try to attempt it spreading into your garden, always assuming that it isnt already there.

This sort of thing ... various suppliers are available, this is just one I googled at random ... I don't know the company    https://www.hy-tex.co.uk/product/root-barrier-c3/

    Good luck  :)

With the bindweed, regular digging out and you should be able to manage it. Maybe not control it as it is able to pop under the fence. Remember to dig up as much of the roots as you can get to.
