Can I use chicken wire instead of netting ?for beans

I didn’t have any pea and bean netting so used chicken wire ? I’m a novice just checking if this is ok ? Now I’m worried it’s too hard for tender stems?

No need to use netting of any sort for runner beans. They’ll just wind their way up the canes in a spiral.

There’s a video here which shows it well

When/if we get really hot weather, bare wire CAN get hot and burn the vines that touch it so, as Dove says, let them go up the canes.  If this is a crop you intend to be a regular one, the pic is my set up that contains 24 plants in one square yard/metre so, if you'd like details, email me on [email protected].  Mine is on its tenth year and looking good for another ten so worth the effort.
