Cherry spot on my winter flowering cherry

My winter flowering cherry has lost nearly all leaves for 2nd year due, I think, to cherry leaf spot. I have read there is no real cure that can be applied. Will the tree ever recover or should I consider replacing it? Thank you

I have a winter flowering cherry that seems to have a similar ailment. It has not lost all its leaves this year but is not looking fully healthy either. I have taken some time to cut off the diseased growth in early summer when there is some dry weather for the last few years and I think that has helped it. Once the diseased growth has been removed I have found the leaf cover usually improves for the rest of the season and it has continued to produce some flowers over autumn, winter and spring depending on the weather. It is not in a very prominent position in my own garden so I think I will continue to hope it will eventually grow out of the problem but if yours is in a position that it takes from the rest of your garden maybe replacing it might be worth considering. It does not seem to be a quick fix to just cut off the diseased growth.
