Acre problem

Hi
quite simply, is this Acer still alive??
it buded well in March. It grew a few leaves.
However in the frost, the leaves all wilted and fell off.
Now it’s just twigs and nothing is happening.
I have no idea how to proceed. Worried it has died. Please help!!

I wouldn't waste my time with that. It looks like it's been suffering for a while, and also looks very heavily pruned [?] so it doesn't suggest a healthy specimen.
They drop foliage if the conditions are dry, as opposed to it being due to frost. April was exceptionally dry, even here. If they go short of water [more liable to in a pot] then they can't sustain new buds and foliage.

    Thanks fairygirl.
I won’t pretend I am not disappointed. But it’s fine.

There's one new-ish shoot there that looks ok, but unless it suddenly sprouted a load more, I doubt that's going to do anything useful.
It also looks very dark on the main trunk just above that, which can be a sign of Verticillium wilt. You could have a look at this link and see what you  think
