Dead heading wisteria flower

Hi everyone I’m planing on dead heading my wisteria flowers to encourage vine growth for the summer. I’m new to this plant so wondering where exactly to cut the flowers ? Do I cut from the signs of leaf growth removing completely the racemes ? Grateful for any advise

    Absolutely un-necessary!

It isn't necessary on a well established plant but I would recommend it on a young plant that is still establishing a good root system or on a plant that has been stressed by extreme cold or drought in spring.

Just snip off the whole flower structure at the base so the plant t-doesn't waste energy on producing seed but diverts it to repeat flowering thru summer or stronger roots for next year's flowers and shoots.
