Hakonechloa macra all gold

I bought 5 of these for a shady border after lots of research. I planted out in April when I got them. One of them is doing OK but something is eating the leaves of the others as soon as they grow 🙄. I have treated the soil with nemotodes for slugs but haven't seen anything else eating them. I have now put them back into pots in the hope that they'll grow enough leaves to actually survive. I thought they would have come on s bit more from the rather scraggy lot of last year's foliage that I planted. The rest of the garden is going a bit crazy growth wise. Any advice to help my plants get at least big enough to go back into the border.

I have those plants in my garden and confirm that they can be a bit difficult to grow. But well worth a try! I find they do better in part shade, not in full sun.
