Is there a way to save my young hydrangea plants please?

We planted out some young hydrangeas (with some green leaves) in the garden in mid-March, then came the frosty Apr when the leaves turned brown. I waited until it warmed up in May to trim off the damaged leaves, and some new growth came out. But then the rain came and with it slugs... So all the new growth was munched overnight... In hindsight we probably should have grown them in pots for a while before planting out. Wondering if there's still a way I can save them please? There are only bare stems with no leaves or buds now  :(

    Lots of water and lots of patience and evening slug patrols.

    You could try sinking a beer trap in each planting hole to catch any slimesters before they graze off your new shoots.

    Thanks! Will follow those advice, and hope the warm and dry weather coming up is on my side too.
