Planted out some tomato plants, dad warned me not to try growing them outside here, and of course he was right, but I bought some seeds that are supposed to take the weather so outside they’ve gone.
The Italian types are in the  GH, San Marzano and Roma.
Talking of 6 weeks behind, here’s the same border this date last year and today.

Even further south than @Obelixx and although my tomato, aubergine, pepper and cucumber plants are in the ground (open air), there is little movement, in fact the peppers seems to have shrunk!    Nights are still a little too cool.  We had about 2 hours of bright sunshine today, now it has gone overcast, hazy and windy - cold to boot.

Yes, that's quite enough, thank you!!

I gave up and planted my tomatoes out in the unheated greenhouse a couple of weeks ago and they've been fine despite the nighttime temps being down to below 5 degrees at times. The runner beans have been growing well in the greenhouse too and I've left some tender succulent cuttings out there and they've been fine. Conversely one of my succulents has been unhappy with the cold draught from the patio doors and the leaves have started to look terrible. That one is supposed to be OK down to 6 degrees for short periods.
It was very telling when I went out yesterday and the trees and hedges are so much greener when I drive down off the mountain. Spring is in full swing only a few miles away with a bit less elevation but things here are still struggling to get going.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Weather forecast is looking a bit better from this weekend onwards… finally double figures at night here around Paris, so hoping those things which have not already given up will streak ahead… I can but hope.

@Jacquimcmahon  Did you try the cooked radish leaves?

Night temps in the last few weeks were around 3-5oC and perillously close to frost on occasion. Crazy for London at the end of May.

I've had my first couple of cucumbers from plants in the greenhouse and the tomatoes are all in flower now.
I couldn't wait any longer as I couldn't move in the greenhouse so the Dahlias, Salvia, Lobelia, Antirrhinum, Petunia, Tagetets have all gone out today. We're supposed to have 18 degree temperatures from tomorrow and its been about 10 degrees at night so their on there own now . get on with it...

Everything is still in little pots here but I did put the runner beans outside to harden off weeks ago then forgot to put them back in the plastic greenhouse and they are still fine, so I reckon I can just go ahead and put them in the ground. Alas the cabbages and beets have barely sprouted so it will be a while yet for those.
