Sunflower Seeds and bird repellant

Hi

Does anyone know of a suitable bird repellent I can use to maybe coat sunflower seeds (I want to plant a field of them) so that the birds and maybe squirrels do not  eat them, I read that methyl anthranilate maybe works (on birds) but not sure where to get that from in a suitable form in the UK. Although the pure chemical form is available not sure how to use that , maybe just diluted it in water and cover the seeds?

Thanks for any replies.

I'm guessing by "field" you mean several acres ?  Not sure how many farmers grow sunflowers for seed in the UK but it may be worth your while checking out some farming websites perhaps?
Some of the French websites may also be helpful as they do grow Sunflowers commercially.
Other than that, sowing, growing on and planting out much like you would do in a garden situation where you can have some control.  It will take longer but could be preferable to the chemical alternative - particularly if you are unsure how to use it safely.
    Best of luck :)

My bet is it’s cheaper and easier to follow the traditional advice followed by farmers over the years,  given and explained here
