I think that's too expensive as well. We had some of the vertical fencing (close boarded?) erected by my landscaper/fencing chap back in 2019, all hand done and individually cut to fit because of the sloping land, including two gates (one hand made). He also removed at least 5 big bushes, existing concrete posts were cut off (wonky spacing) and new wooden posts concreted in plus 3 new concrete spurs where necessary, gravel boards and trellis on 4 panels. From memory I think it was approx 3 days for the first bit plus the big gate, then maybe a week for the harder, much longer 2nd part. I think it was approx £1800 all in. A brilliant job, well done.
4 days to erect 13 panels and their posts? They are taking the proverbial. My neighbour had new fencing and posts erected the length of his garden , approx 150' and the entire job was done in 2 days.
Last year I paid about £2000 for 45 metres of new, basic fencing - including VAT, removal of old fence panels, removal of a big, old ivy hedge and all fence posts replaced. London prices. Three men took a day. I checked out their quote on this forum and it did seem reasonable compared to other quotes I received. Full discussion here.
They used extra large wooden fence posts, concreted in, and shiplap panels. Fairly quick work for a narrow terrace garden. The biggest hurdle was removing the ivy, but they had the right tools. Everything had to be taken through the house as there is no back garden gate.
The price was ok, the fences and posts are ok, but the men did a shocking job in trashing both next door neighbours' lawns. I asked the neighbours' permission to use their space too, as my garden is only just over three metres wide, and it seemed to make sense. On reflection, that was a mistake.
Despite clear instructions and my wrapping of plants, including roses, the workmen manage to wreck a fair amount of my planting. They also broke some wiring off a wall and some bent some steel structures, so I wasn't impressed. Yes, they were fast, but perhaps too fast and it felt a sloppy process. I had used the small, local company before and liked the work before. In the end, it often depends who turns up on the day and if they are trying to get everything done before 3pm (they did the job in January). If you are emptying skips or similar, you don't need to be careful, but with people beloved plants, you do have to take extra care and it counts.
It's amazing how fast a team can work if they are on the clock, have the right tools, know what they are doing and aren't interested in messing about. I'm very glad I got it done when I did, because we went into lockdown not long after.
Many thanks for all of your feedback. I had already kind of decided not to go with them because of this but felt that I needed a devil's advocate as it were in case I was completely out of touch with regards to today's prices. I originally wanted Jacksons because of all the good reviews and their 25 year guarantee. I also liked the fact that they said that it didn't need treated or maintained over the years, although maybe this was just wishful thinking on my part. I felt that the greater outlay just now may have been worth it longer term. I also like the look of their fencing. The design I was considering was horizontal tongue and groove. My plan now is to contact them directly as one of the posters suggested and mention the fact that the labour costs from their approved installer means that I'm having to review my options. Unfortunately I have a feeling that this is their only approved installer in my area (I live in Central Scotland). My initial thoughts had been that as I was already spending so much money on the Jacksons fencing then it would be best to go with one of their approved installers, but obviously now I'm changing my mind. I don't know whether they are just rogue installers or whether all of their installers charge this premium.
If they haven't got many approved installers in your area, it's an open invite to up their prices. I'd be looking for recommendations for a local 'unapproved' crew/person who would do it for a reasonable price.
I have the Jacksons Venetian panels (expensive, but worth every penny for the way they let the light slant through onto my wildlife pond). Supply and fit 14 5' panels, 12" concrete gravel boards and all posts. Including ripping out 9 large leylandii and disposing of all rubbish. £2980 including VAT, last June. So yes, you're being ripped-off by about £1000 *IF* that included all materials!!
You do NOT need a 'recommended installer'. There is nothing special about these panels (except for their undoubted high quality and long life). Any contactor who can dig holes, put fence posts in vertically and 6' apart will be able to install these.
Find a local tradesperson/garden contractor you can trust and have him/her do the job.
If the site is already clear it's a day's (hard) work for 2 blokes; maybe a day and a half. Say 12hrs x 2 = 24 man hours. At £20/hr that's £480 labour (+ VAT). Even if it was twice that (it wouldn't be) that's only £1000 + VAT. The other £2000? They're trying it on. Have nothing to do with them.

lol day and a half ? how do you know this? do you no what the ground conditions are like? how long it takes to remove existing fencing systems especially if they are installed correctly @ 600mm in the ground full off concrete, the whole job is more like 3-4 days work and every one will charges different prices based on what they value there work at, pay cheap get it done twice.
