I want to kill the grass next door to my Pollytunnel.

I would like to kill the grass next alongside my Pollytunnel.I’m worried that if I use my push lawn mower I’ll kick up some chopped bark and damage the polythene.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Cover it to exclude light. It'll take a while mind you.

You could sink a row of narrow bricks/pavers between the bark chips and the grass at soil level, which would help contain the chips and you could run the push mower over the grass/paver join without kicking up the chips. Or dispense with the chips outside the poly altogether and just edge with pavers right up to it. Be a shame to kill the grass. Impressive poly, btw!

I’ve just gone out and covered the edge with 4.8m barge Board for now. Should make it slightly easier to mow.

Thanks , but that would be ideal but the cost would be prohibitive. It’s 14m long!

Once you have killed the grass, what will you replace it with? The soil won't stay bare for long.
    In London. Keen but lazy.

Not sure, I’m not adverse to keeping the grass as a grass path...There is a archway in the hedge to the right so it does get some foot fall on it. I just need a way to edge it in a cheap way to I can mow it easier....

There are various materials you could use to make a more definite edge between bark and grass  - brick, stone, wood or metal which have already been suggested.
If the cost of any of these is too high, you are really only left with mowing and clipping.

Try freecycle and similar sites to see of you could pick up some suitable edging for free..

I wonder whether gravel boards recessed flat would be a cost-effective edging option between poly and grass?

I’ve put some of these for now...they were left over form the staging I built for the Pollytunnel.

I’ll cut some stakes then put them upright as an edge...
