We have a monster of an acer a few feet away so know the plot is good for them. It’s just these two. Maybe it’s the watering which was consistent when planted out and for some time after but maybe they needed for longer
That’s a lovely acer. It’s in the ground though, so it’ll have a root system better equipped to go off in search of water. As Fairygirl said, watering is key, with potted trees. We had an unusually dry April too and when it did finally rain in May, many if my pots were still dry all the way through, hardly dampened by the downpour, until I had given them a good soak first. The leaves on your potted acres do look like wind scorch buy the wilting doesn’t. Also worth checking you have no vine weevil in those pots, that can munch away at roots from March/ April onwards.
I think it’s been a generally bad start for acres this year. My potted one which was stunning last year has not opened a single leaf. All of the buds got damaged in the frost and it has stayed as bare branches… I think it’s a lost cause!
Marne la vallée, basically just outside Paris 🇫🇷, but definitely Scottish at heart.
