Laurels Sprayed?

Have crazy neighbours and suspect sprayed my Laurel hedge as there is a line of brown leave running along a certain area even though plants are growing well with sun/rain.

Do these leafs I've removed looked sprayed with a substance;

My neighbour's laurel hedge looks similar in places.
I think it's caused by the rotten weather we've been having

Plants circa 5ft and have a band of brown outer leafs at circa 4ft; can heavy rain and or rain water sat on leafs do this before I start pointing fingers at a neighbour wishing to reduce their height.

Sounds a bit suspicious doesn’t it!
Depends if you want to fall out with your neighbour,   They could do even more damage if you tackle them.
maybe just cut of the affected parts,  rain would not do that, they’re tough, they can take rain without looking like that.
A tricky situation.   You could knock and ask them if they would like you to cut the hedge down a bit and see their reaction.

We've had hard frosts, dry icy winds, frequent hail showers and a long dry spell.
Now we've got very strong blustery winds and heavy showers.
Quite a few of my shrubs have some leaf damage and the damage on the leaves of my myrtle look similar to the damage on your leaves, and my neighbours laurel.
It's not rain damage of any sort.
I think weather damage is most likely, but if you have a pic of the hedge that may give some clues.

Ok so definately not rain or hot weather in April - all May we have had rain & hedges look nice and green with growth also.

Weather damage usually would nip the new growth, but yours is a line 4’ along the hedge,  seems strange.

Is the damage on both sides of the hedge or just one side?
A photo of the hedge would really help

I don't think you have anything to worry about
It looks like the leaves have been damaged by the top of the fence during strong winds when the top of the laurels were blowing around.
    I don't think it's been sprayed

No, not sprayed, it would be worse than that, you can cut those leaves off or they will just drop off soon.
