Chaenomeles Japonica leaves turning yellow
My Chaenomeles Japonica is dealing with this year's summer (currently 31 degrees Celsius and relative humidity 73%) and the poor thing's leaves are turning yellow (see pictures below). A month ago (it was 25 degrees Celcius) it was blooming beautiful pink flowers, but now it's looking unwell.
Is this the heat? Or it is just water stress?
I took it out of the pot and checked the roots, they seemed fine but the akadama it had before started to become powdery, so on 18 May 2021 (3 days ago) I repotted it with fresh kiryuzuna soil but every day it seems like the yellowing is getting worse.
Have I completely misread this? And is this chlorosis?
