Soil for Blueberries

SkandiSkandi Posts: 1,723
A couple of questions here, I can buy what they call rhododendron soil which I assume would be ok for blueberries but it's peat based. Everything here is peat based, I can even buy large bails of pure peat at the local shop. How would one go about making an ok soil for blueberries without using peat? would it be possible with some mixture of compost, sand and sulphur? My native soil is very alkaline so not suitable at all.

Could you grow them in pots of Ericacious compost that would solve the problem. Not everyone is anti peat, read a very interesting article recently by Peter Seabrook
