Thin out honeysuckle to avoid getting mildew?
I just pulled a load of leaves of my otherwise vigorous honeysuckle coz they had mildew.
My question is should I think out the honeysuckle so there's more airflow and fewer recesses to get humid and encourage mildew. I have it growing up a support of wires and canes, about 6cm away from the wall and have tucked the vine behind the supports to stop it getting blown around - it's always windy here. So it's a bit congested behind the wires - I'm thinking maybe just cut out some of the stems so it's less packed. Any thoughts?
Maybe should mention it's on a south facing wall and as I say, it's pretty windy.
Also, does anyone know if the plant will grow back where I pulled the affected leaves off?

The more pruning, the more branching you will create. They can form into dense shrub-like form if left to scramble. You can thin out if you like it to look more looser in form.
