Soft/Sinking Turf
Hi, 3 weeks ago I rotovated my garden, 2 weeks ago I turfed the area (65m2). Whilst I know the grass is taking to the soil and is growing nicely I feel like I've made a mistake by not compacting the top soil before laying the turf (I believed the heavy rain I had in the week differecne would have been enough).
I'm using a board to place the sprinkler to water, but have a terrible feeling th softeness/sinking won't go away as there's could be too much air in the topsoil still.
My thoughts at present are to continue watering a keeping off the grass for a further 2/3 weeks and then let the grass and soil dry out (UK weather permitting) and then use a heavy roller (cross and length ways) on the grassed area.
Is this the right thing to do is this situation? Any further suggestions welcome.
Thank you.
