Have a photo in flower but not out of flower. It does flower late in the year and its pretty rampant. I've moved mine as it was growing over next doors drive and they got a face full every time they got out of the car. The only drawback was the lower section always went brown and you can't take your eye off it while its growing. Picture taken Oct. 2019 so 2 years old.
Thanks @K67 - is that all one plant? Do you cut it right back every year? is that a pain in the butt as it's so large?
I imagine that it tends to want always to grow upwards and flower at the top, in most sun...

Yes that's one plant and its cut back every year. In its favour it has a delicate scent. If you can hide the bottom behind a shrub or 5 and can keep on top of the training its great. Now i know how big it gets I shorten and thin it early on. I cut it back in winter after flowering and then again in the spring
Not sure, it could be as you said that the top shades out the base. It might be the position as it doesn't get the sun much. Since that photo I have tried running it lower on the fence but all I got was a brown spread of stems. This year it's against a wall that gets afternoon sun so I'm hopeful it might stay green and flower lower down. Digging it up and moving it doesn't seem to have bothered it at all,
I put this in and love it. It's just a shame it's a group three as has to be cut back every year. I would love it as a group permanent fence covering. I have two and it looks very pretty growing through Rosa Moonlight - little white rambler-like flowers.
It's two years in but put on most of its bulk last year and not much extra this year, despite regular watering and feeding. Maybe it was knocked by the hard winter. I do hope it will keep growing and go left.
