Damaged Acer tree

I have a young Acer in my garden which was damaged by a builder. 2 of the branches on one side were torn off. It now looks like me on the way back from the pub! Is there anything I can do to try and encourage new branches to grow in that side of the tree?

    Can you add a photo to see the extent of the damage?

    That looks nasty ... I would expect the builder to buy you another one ... and as someone who used to be married to a local builder ... if he or one of his employees had done that, a bottle of wine, bunch of flowers and a smashing new acer would be the least we would do.

    He did knock the cost of the tree off the bill so if I need to replace it I can.  Would like to try and save the one I have though (I've become quite attached to it lol).
