Containing Cordyline australis 'Red Star'

BalaBala Posts: 113
I have just bought couple of Cordyline australis 'Red Star' from Morrisons for my front border without realising that it reaches 3 meters height.

Is there a way to contain it and keep it small (probably 2 feet)?  If I plant it directly in the border along with the container it came in, will it maintain its same height or will it die?

Thanks

This refers to it as compact,  so maybe keep in pots, repotting as it grows. You cannot keep it in a small pot as eventually it will use up all the compost and die.

It will takes years and years for it to get to that height. Mine's been in the ground for a few years and it's barely done anything. It hasn't grown enough to form a trunk yet. Maybe 3 feet tall. Depends which size you started with, of course, but can't imagine Morrisons selling anything bigger than what I bought all those years ago.
