Is my acer dying?

Hi all,

I have no idea what's happening with my acer tree. It was doing OK in a pot for several years and last year I replanted it into the ground. This spring it had nice purple folliage, but now they are drying out, even if the soil is wet because of rains. When I planted it I added ericaceous soil around it. Other acers in pots are doing well

Is it exposed? Could be the recent cold winds or late frosts. It doesn't look too severe - see how it goes during the year.

Yes, it's fairly exposed, but then others in pots were nearby too
