Shrub ID please - small white flowers

I have tried to ID this shrub but can't seem to find what it is. It was planted towards the front of the border by the previous owner and it really needs pruning as its now rather large.

There seems to be two kinds of leaves (new and old?) and then tiny buds which open to small white flowers.

You have a Spirea there, and the new foliage looks a little different from the more mature stuff. In the  first pic, the new foliage is the broader, softer stuff top left.
You can prune them back quite hard without any problem, but you may want to remove it altogether if it's too big for the available space.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Great, thank you. It is nice so I may prune it hard now as I want to plant around it and think about re-locating in the autumn.
