Unhappy courgette

I have three courgette seedlings from Sarah Raven which I've potted up and they were growing really well. I noticed yesterday that one (romanensco 2nd picture) is looking quite sad - the main stem seems to be 'dropping' and it's not 'pert' like the others (see soleil doing well in the 1st picture).

Is there anything I can do to help it along? I was planning on planting them out this weekend.

Unless you've had them for several weeks, it's probably just a bit of transplant shock. It's got a lot of large foliage, and it can take a little while for any plant to settle and grow away when it's been packaged up, posted, and then newly planted.  :)

I'd give it a bit of time. They certainly look nice and healthy.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Thanks @Fairygirl - I've had them a couple of weeks now, they only had one pair of leaves when they arrived and have grown well since then so hoping my sad looking one perks up! Just worried it may have been something I did/didn't do.

I don't think it's anything to worry about. The foliage is probably just a bit top heavy for the root system. It should toughen up and support itself   :)

Have you recently put them outside?
  • @Nanny Beach yes - I’ve been putting them out in the day and back in the greenhouse at night as was hoping to plant out on the weekend.

Mine have been outside for a couple of weeks in their pots, waiting for me/the weather to get round to planting them out.  I'm not at all bothered by drooping/loss of lower leaves as I know that once they are in the garden they will take off and attempt to dominate my entire veg. plot.
Gardening in East Suffolk on dry sandy soil.
  • Thank you both very much for the reassurance! My courgettes didn’t do well last year (too much shade) so I am hoping these three all take off.
