Ah - yes, I'd agree. The conditions would have to suit. Damp and shade are two of the main situations which will boost moss rather than grass. I expect you could try scalping the grass frequently until it becomes weak, and then see what it's like.

This is fascinating. We have a section of lawn which is very damp with acid soil, already has plenty of moss. Very tempted to try converting it to a moss lawn. We already have some big decorative rocks, so maybe I’ll get some stepping stones and start actively discouraging the grass. Don’t think it would take long for it to give up the ghost.
