Can anyone tell me what this hydrangea is called?

I had this hydrangea Bush in our garden, however it died a few years ago, and I want to try and find another one. I think the one in this picture is the same one. Does anyone know what it's called?

    I don't know the name but irs a mop head hydrangea

    Oh, my God. There are sooo many pink mophead hydrangeas for sale now a days that it becomes a blur. A cutting is the only way to get exactly the same plant. The plant in the picture looks very healthy in the picture. What happened to it? Why did it die? It must have been quite tall in the garden! Any chance you can go to the store where you bought it from? They may not sell it but it may be worth checking if you know where it was purchased from.

    I would look for hydrangea macrophyllas that produce pink-purple-blue mophead types of blooms, that has sepals like in the picture, that get as tall as yours used to be and that have green stems with few lenticels. From the few stems in the picture, the stems are mostly green and do not appear to have too many lenticels so you could try to discriminate that way. Of course, many macrophyllas will still be candidates.... :'(

    Otherwise, I would look for rebloomer pink-purple-blue hydrangea macrophyllas whose blooms and dimensions you like at the plant nursery... You could even choose a hydrangea macrophylla that produces a lacecap bloom this time too. :)

    The care of most hydrangea macrophyllas is usually the same. I would stay away from varieties labeled as Teller Hybrids because some are not too winter hardy.

    It looks like a macrophylla, it's the most widely available variety. Mrs Elfer bought one for £10 from tesco which we planted a month ago and it's looking rather lush right now. Try not to buy the ones with early flower heads on as it's too early for that, those have been in greenhouses.
