Purple grass?

Hi all, I’m still quite a novice gardener so please forgive me but I noticed quite a lot of this in my grass this evening...

Can anyone tell me what it is please and how to get rid of it?

    Keep it under control by mowing regularly is the best way to manage it.

    Thanks punkdoc, probably why I’ve not noticed it before! Haven’t had chance to cut the grass as often as normal.
